Last year was the busiest year of my career as a wedding photographer. It was amazing to see so many of my gorgeous couples getting married… This was definitely the year of the wedding boom, here’s the best of 2022!

2022 was also the year I pushed through many challenges in photography, with the return of a normal-ish life post pandemic. I photographed couples all over England (hitting up London many times, of course) and even had a chance to photograph a stunning wedding celebration in France.

I wanted my readers to really get the feel of the year I had from these images… so this is a selection of my best of 2022 personal favourite moments from the past year, that haven’t make it to the grid. Sometimes as a wedding photographer, it’s the stories and unforgettable memories behind the photos that last the longest.

Timeline Vibes

The pandemic made us all get a bit creative with wedding day timelines, but to be honest, unconventional timelines mean that the couple can do all the things they love, even with a little break in the middle for a nap, or a pint…!

Wedding Transport of Dreams

One couple hired a London tour bus for their guests to travel from the wedding ceremony to reception party. It was epic! London weddings can be a bit hectic when it comes to travel (hiring multiple taxis at the same time, need I say more) so getting to travel in a fun way, and show the sights to all out-of-town wedding guests was… *chefs kiss*.

De-stress A Wedding Day

Keep prioritising time to absorb the day. So many of my couples really made sure that they scheduled some time to get away and decompress. Whether that was a couple’s photo shoot or just some time to be together and chill. I’m here for it! Put the chill back into your wedding day.

Confetti for Days

Listening to my ridiculous (read: incredible) advice to get an absolute shit tonne of confetti. The pictures really do speak for themselves here. So absolutely joyful!

Dance Dance!

This is not so new but getting a banging band and DJ to set the dance floor on fire at the wedding reception, and you know what the best trick to a hot dance floor is? The bride and groom need to be there front and centre. If you’re not dancing… neither are your guests. Here are some of my absolute faves to show us how its done.

Just for the memories…

One couple decided to greet all their wedding guests before the ceremony and skip the dramatic walk down the aisle. The bride did not want all eyes to be on her and so they entered the church together with their guests. This put them at ease, and they really enjoyed the rest of the wedding ceremony, with so much less pressure!

Let’s. Remember. Wedding. Food! Family style dining! Family style is way more relaxed for wedding catering, when you allow the guests to serve themselves from dishes on the table. It helps the conversations get going and puts your guests at ease. I loved seeing my couple’s foodie side come out, with amazing options for everyone.

One very dramatic memory from the florals… A wedding bouquet on fire. No, like, literally on fire! This was a first! Luckily no one was hurt and we had a great laugh about it.

Another fun moment was when one of my brides gave up on shoes to run around the floor with bare feet. (We will not discuss the splinter which took 3 people to extract…!) The wedding theme was ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’… and an absolute dream it was.
