This Frickley Lake summer festival wedding was an absolute delight to be a part of. Festival vibes everywhere… Sunshine, laughter, and just the most chilled-out wedding there ever was. It really was such a happy and joyful summer day for G+J to celebrate their love!
I asked Grace and Jezz to share some of their favourite moments and summer memories from their summer wedding at Frickley Lake…
“Our main aim was to create a happy, informal atmosphere, where everyone could feel relaxed and enjoy themselves.“
The day started with a gloriously sunny morning, with the bride, her bridesmaids, and her family all getting ready together. Grace and Jezz mentioned that a relaxed and informal feel was super important to them both for their wedding day. I definitely felt this right through the day, from the first steps in getting ready, until the very last dance under the disco ball.
The couple had chosen to get married at the beautiful Frickley Lake, in East Sussex. The on-site accommodation set Grace and her bridesmaids up for a chill morning of getting ready in the gorgeous cabin. Frickley Lake also has some beautiful bell tents available as guest accommodation… An amazing and fun idea if you’re planning a festival wedding!
Grace and Jezz’s adorable little girl, Athena, was loving the excitement of the morning. Her cute pink outfit next to the bridesmaids in different tones of pink made her look like one of the gals and matched perfectly!
“The glamping tents and the venue itself gave such a beautiful relaxed feel to the setting and the atmosphere of the day.“
Grace’s dress was absolutely stunning, perfect for the warm summer day. She says about her gown: “It was a dreamy dress called Seqouia, made by Leanne Marshall.” She found the dress in Rock The Frock, Brighton. This stunning Sequioa wedding dress featured a textured ivory gown, a slit up the full, relaxed skirt, draped bodice and off-the-shoulder, dramatic puffed sleeves. Grace looked so, so beautiful, it was absolutely THE dress for the hot summer weather, a festival style wedding, and for her!
“I truly felt like Titania from Midsummer night’s dream”
Jezz got his fair share of compliments too, with his slick Paul Smith suit, black bow tie and white shirt. Turns out, it was the perfect choice for the hot weather, because the material was light and breathable. Something very important for grooms/suit-wearers to consider when planning a summer wedding! This Frickley Lake summer festival wedding was a scorcher of a day!
“It is the most complimented piece of clothing I have ever worn” – Jezz
And Jezz was totally well deserving of those compliments!
I’ve been excited to write about this part… These wedding flowers were honestly incredible.
Grace’s beautiful bouquet, the bridesmaid’s floral wreaths, Jezz’s stunningly designed boutonnière… But can we just take a special moment to appreciate the spectacular aisle flowers, pictured below.
“The best florist on earth” – Grace
Hot summer days are a challenge to any florist, but Kate Neech rose to the challenge. She incorporated the relaxed, festival, wildflower wedding feel to her creations, and made something truly gorgeous and unique. These statement installations were such a beautiful feature, framing the focus of the wedding ceremony, a perfect addition to this Frickley Lake summer festival wedding.
Something I seriously adored about Grace and Jezz’s chilled out wedding was the fab roundup of suppliers Grace and Jezz selected to build on their day.
The food was absolutely amazing, and we always love a foodie wedding! (Who doesn’t?!). Scroll below for some highlights, and take a look at the links at the bottom of this blog to find out more about the talented suppliers.
Good, meaningful music was so important for this lovely couple. David Bowie, Johnny Flynn and Leon Bridges featured in the gorgeous outdoor ceremony, along with Hanz Zimmer for the ceremony entrance song.
“We created our own eclectic playlists for the ceremony and during the wedding breakfast. Loads of our favourite songs.”
The couple had chosen a group of incredible musicians to round off the evening – The Funk Around Band, a fun five piece who played some really classic dance tracks.
“The band was such good fun”
G+J loved that the venue even organised a silent disco after the band had finished.
Pure vibes on this dancefloor!
We really loved the fun details of this summer wedding, from the paint-your-own-canvas, to the stationery designed by Jezz’s sister, Becca (how amazing??), to the wonderful tablescapes.
I asked Grace and Jezz what advice they might give to future couples who are planning their wedding. They had some lovely words of wisdom…
“Choose the wedding suppliers that you love, take the time to look through their past work, and that way you can really get a feel of the work they produce and if that is right for you.”
Such a good idea! This couple definitely did their research and had some amazing wedding suppliers.
Glorious weather, stunning florals and the happiest of guests. I’ll leave Grace to have the final word of advice, after reflecting on their special day:
“Take those little moments together to step back, and just take a breather together.”
