I’ve been in the wedding photography game for a long time now… I’ve attended, photographed, and loved the hundreds of weddings of badass couples. Every wedding I’ve been to has been so entirely, uniquely different – it blows my mind that I still see new takes and ideas with each and every wedding I see!
But I know first hand as a bride, wedding styling ISN’T easy! When you’re planning a wedding, you have to take on the role of administrator, designer, planner, stylist, coordinator, accountant, personal shopper… And that’s just the beginning!
With everything on your plate, it can be really overwhelming and difficult to make sense of your vision, or what you want your day to look and feel like. And that’s without putting it all into words on paper, and sourcing all the right props, AND styling on the day!
This is where a seriously good tuned-in alternative wedding stylist comes into play. I will always highly recommend a wedding stylist for the planning and execution of your wedding’s vibe and look.
Finding the right wedding stylist is like having a mate who knows EXACTLY what you want and need for the space you’ve chosen, and pulling it all together for you.
Wedding stylists have an amazing knack for knowing exactly what you’re looking for, before you even know it yourself!
In this blog post, I’ve asked my favourite alternative wedding stylists Rebecca from R n R Weddings the key questions for all you need to know about choosing the right stylist for you!
So, let’s hand over to the professional, Becky from R&R Weddings!
Wedding styling is all about creating a look and feel to match your personality. Focusing on the details of colour, material and those all important vibes! If you’re struggling to think of a theme, or even where to start with your wedding look, a wedding stylist can really help you pinpoint those ideas, and help bring the look together with other suppliers (we’ve got amazing hook-ups); Stationary, cake design, florals, props, we’ve got all the right contacts! Wedding stylists take away the extra stress of wedding prepping, and help you have a relaxed lead up to your wedding day. You can find more information on wedding styling over on my blog – What Is a Wedding Stylist, and the Benefits of Having One! and Picking the Right Stylist for Your Wedding Day.
In all honesty… all of them. My main focus is to help couples bring out their personality in their styling, and not feel like they have to go down the pinterest trend rabbit hole to create a great wedding. It’s all about the couple, at the end of the day. Not some age-old traditions.
BE YOURSELF! This is my whole mantra! Have a good brainstorm together of what you love and dont love about weddings. Ask yourselves: what is important to you as a couple? Look at the traditions in place in your culture, and don’t be afraid to challenge or break them! BE YOU!
