When you think of a mid-summer wedding, what’s the first thing you think of? For me, it’s always COLOUR. And this wildly colourful fusion summer wedding was absolutely no disappointment when it comes to that.
Set in South London, Krishna and Ollie had their August wedding at Refettorio Felix, mixing their cultures of Hindu and English. They included children in the wedding party, their dog(!), and ordered in KFC for their guests late into the reception. What’s not to love?
Krishna got ready for their wedding day at home, surrounded by her girls. The vibe was sooo relaxed, and everyone was just so happy and chilled.
I caught up with the guys once Krishna and the girls were all ready. Ollie and the boys were all so relaxed as well, sipping on a cheeky pint before the ceremony. It was at this point I just knew the day was going to be so relaxed and full of genuine fun and smiles.
I managed to snap some shots of the stunning, colourful Hindu ceremony set up before anyone arrived.
In Krishna and Ollie’s Hindu ceremony, there are traditions that take place between the bride’s mother and father and the groom, before the bride arrives. This was the pinnacle of this colourful fusion summer wedding… This was so special to watch unfold, and seeing a beautiful mix of culture in the heart of London made me feel so full of love. It felt like such a beautiful privilege to witness these traditions, and capture them for Krishna and Ollie.
After the first few parts of the ceremony were carried out, it was Krishna’s time! Krishna arrived in a traditional London black cab, in her traditional Hindu bridal wear.
There were so many tears from the bride’s father, Ollie, and Krishna – I had to hold them back myself! I absolutely love these photos and how much they capture the emotion and joy in this moment. THIS is what wedding photography is all about.
I’ll be honest – this MIGHT be the most wedding ceremony photos I’ve ever taken for a couple. I couldn’t stop snapping, and when it came to editing, I couldn’t stop adding photos in. There were just too many special and beautiful moments.
After the ceremony everyone headed down to The Atlas pub for drinks and canapes. The sun was beaming for this colourful fusion summer wedding in the middle of London.
During drinks, Refettorio Felix was transformed from the ceremony venue, into a stunning, colourful reception venue. Guests started piling in, filling up the wildflower and polaroid adorned tables. Speeches were made, tears were shed, and so many good mems were made.
From the vivid colours and golds of traditional Indian outfits, to the subtle pastels and refined tones of English summer, the blend of colours was an absolute DELIGHT to capture. The intricate embroidery, adornments and decor were such a stunning testament to the rich cultural heritage of Krishna’s family.
It was evident the whole day that this fusion wedding wasn’t your usual London wedding; it was a celebration of diversity and the love around it. It was such an honour to be part of this vibrant, colourful day in Krishna and Ollie’s life.
